Allegations only meant to attack, smear my name,’ says VP Duterte

In Manila, Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte responded to recent accusations that she took bags of guns from Pastor Apollo Quiboloy. Duterte dismissed the allegations and said they are simply attempts to tarnish the reputation of anyone in the second-highest position in the government.

She mentioned that attacking the Vice President has become a common practice in Philippine history, possibly because the Vice President stands as the main obstacle to those aspiring to become President.

Although Duterte did not directly address the allegations, she stated that she expects more attacks against her in the future, including cases, investigations, witnesses, accusations, and smear campaigns.

She believes that there is a right time for everything and prefers to focus on her job and fulfilling her sworn duties. She prioritizes addressing real problems and serving the Filipino people.

During a Senate hearing the day before, a former member of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ claimed that Pastor Apollo Quiboloy would bring bags of guns to a place called “Glory Mountain.” The former member also alleged that former President Rodrigo Duterte and his daughter, then Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, visited the location and collected the guns. However, the former president has not yet commented on these allegations.
