Karachi Kings, who recently suffered consecutive defeats against Quetta Gladiators and Islamabad United, will be seeking redemption as they face the table-topping Multan Sultans on their home ground today, Sunday.
Following their three losses and two wins in five matches, Karachi Kings, led by skipper Shan Masood, have slipped to the fifth position in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) points table.
In contrast, the Multan Sultans have been impressive in this year’s PSL. Under the leadership of Rizwan, they have suffered only one defeat and secured five victories, positioning themselves well to qualify for the playoffs.
Ahead of the match, the Sultans took to social media to share pictures of their players practicing at the National Bank Arena stadium, captioning it as “Bowling under the Karachi sun.”
Karachi Kings will rely on the performances of James Vince, Tim Seifert, skipper Masood, and the experienced Shoaib Malik to guide them to victory. Additionally, their spin trio of Tabraiz Shamsi, Mohammad Nawaz, and Malik need to provide more support to the bowling lineup.
On the other hand, the Multan Sultans present a formidable side. Spinner Usama Mir and bowler Mohammad Ali have been impressive throughout the tournament, with contributions from skipper Rizwan, Usman Khan, Tayyab Tahir, and David Willey.
In their previous encounter on February 18, the Sultans comfortably defeated the Kings by 55 runs. It remains to be seen whether history will repeat itself or if the Kings can pull off an upset to make the tournament more competitive.
The match is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. local time.
